Just curious why RG-60? For that being clean pin steel, why not use 70s-2 probably much better results that way. Cleaner, and a lot more solid. Just food for thought. PS: I've probably answered my own question to you, being probably on a farm rg60 and 45 is more than likely laying all around the shop for oxygen acetylene welding. 70s-6 and 70s-2 are essentially their equivalents more or less for TIG, the rod is supercheap. I think you'll like it a lot more.

I think it's really cool Bruce, that you are using the same tools your dad used. It's living proof that good tools well cared for can be around for multiple generations.

Those tools looked similar to my jr high shop class about 1966. No telling how old they really go back. A kid with a barrel knife can oops real easy and cut clean through the project.

I think you should be using the ball part of the hammer to spread out the stump instead of the flat side.
